Madeline Ngo is currently a freshman at Columbia University. She reported for The Newtonite, Newton North High School’s student newspaper, for four years. Throughout her time there, she published more than 30 articles across sections and earned recognition from the New England Scholastic Press Association for her reporting. In 2026, she was one of two Newton North students honored with the Helen Smith Scholarship for meaningful contributions to scholastic journalism.
She has attended journalism conferences at both Columbia University and Boston University, and during the Newton Teachers Association strike in 2024, she broke news for her school paper. She aspires to continue studying political science at Columbia and pursue a career in political journalism post graduation.
